Child Dedication

Child dedication is a special moment where parents publicly commit before God and their church family to raise their child in a way that honors Him. It isn’t a requirement or something the Bible commands believers to do, but it is a meaningful commitment.

In dedicating a child, parents are acknowledging that their child ultimately belongs to God and asking for His guidance as they raise them to know and follow Him. It is also a promise from the parents to lead their child toward faith, prayerfully trusting that God will use their life for His purposes. As Hannah prayed when she dedicated Samuel, "I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the Lord. For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord.” (1 Samuel 1:27-28)
