What We Believe

These truths are the foundation
that our church is built on.

The Bible

The Bible is the infallible Word of God. It was entirely inspired by the Holy Spirit and is suitable for teaching, correction, and growing in God. It is the only foundation of Joshua's Crossing's belief system.

God

There is a God Who created the Universe and everything in it. He is all-powerful and all-knowing. Furthermore, He is a personal and loving God, which means we can know Him and stand firm on the truth that He loves us.

Jesus

Jesus was God incarnate. Fully God and fully man, He lived a perfect life on earth. He ultimately sacrificed Himself on the cross for the sins of the world, but was raised to life on the third day. He ascended into Heaven and is coming back one day.

Salvation

Because humans are sinful by nature, we are unworthy of entry to Heaven when we die. However, when Jesus paid for our sins as He died on the cross, He opened the door of salvation to all. From then on, entry to Heaven is simply a matter of trusting in Jesus as Lord.

Baptism

The Bible commands all new believers to undergo full immersion baptism as a public, symbolic proclamation of their new faith. Baptism does not save a person and has no bearing on salvation, but it is an important step in following Jesus.

Lord's Supper

The Lord's Supper is observed to show gratitude and remembrance of the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross for our sins. The food and drink is purely symbolic; no transformation takes place within the body.

The Church

The Church is the bride of Christ and serves as both a testament to God's grace and a vessel to show His glory. While the Church is not perfect, it is clear that the Bible requires every Christian to have a church home.

Eternity

The Bible is clear that everyone goes somewhere at the moment of their death. Two destinations exist: with God in Heaven, or apart from Him in Hell. Trusting in Jesus' offer of salvation is the only way to get to Heaven.
